Why We Do It
Our journey unknowingly began in 2006 when I signed up with the leading international educational agency in Nigeria. At the time, I was 16 years old, too young and uninformed to realize that the schools selected by the agency were not a good fit for me but were selected because they were partner schools.
Fortunately for me, I had a good SAT score; 1390/1600 that allowed me to still secure scholarships to all the universities I applied to. I chose the school that offered me the most scholarship in the United States. Unfortunately, upon arriving, things became challenging for me, it was clear that the school was not the right fit for me.

I was young, financially unstable (the scholarship secured although substantial was not sufficient), and I was at a school with little to no diversity. I couldn’t withstand the heat so I transferred to the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) in my second year. It was a much better school with a more enabling environment for me but all of these meant I lostmy scholarship from the previous school. I had to work during my time at UMBC to contribute to my tuition. While at UMBC I did loads of research and found out that with my SAT score 1390/1600, I could have received a full scholarship to a top university
Unfortunately for me, the international educational agency company I trusted and used lacked the expertise to help me access and secure opportunities but instead was focused on their commission rather than clients’ needs and interests.
My experience with them is not unique to me, many people have faced similar challenging situations. Quietly, I committed to eventually cater to the educational needs of Africans who dream of schooling overseas. I initially started helping people with their study abroad goals in 2016 but at the time I was supporting them as Bimpe and in an unstructured manner.
