The Power of Access: The Journey Behind Edward Consulting

Sometimes, the experiences that challenge us most can become the reason we create something that helps others.
For Bimpe Femi-Oyewo, Founder & CEO of Edward Consulting, that experience began with navigating international education as a Nigerian student.
That experience exposed her to the realities many talented students face when trying to access opportunities beyond their borders. It eventually became the foundation for Edward Consulting, an organisation committed to helping students access quality international education, scholarships, and funding opportunities.
Today, that journey is the focus of a feature by the African Management Institute (AMI) titled “The Power of Access: How one entrepreneur is helping thousands of African students turn opportunity into impact.”
The feature explores why Bimpe started Edward Consulting, the challenges that shaped its mission, and what it has taken to grow the organisation from a one-person venture into a team creating opportunities for students around the world.
Beyond the Numbers
Today, more than US$30 million in scholarships and funding has been secured for students pursuing international education.
But behind that number are students who gained access to opportunities that could change the direction of their lives.
Why Access Matters
For many African students, talent is not the barrier. Access is.
Information gaps, financial challenges, and navigating unfamiliar education systems can stand between a student and an opportunity. At Edward Consulting, the mission is to help close that gap by connecting talented students to the information, resources, and opportunities they need.
The Journey Continues
Bimpe’s journey shows how a personal experience can become a purpose that extends far beyond one person.
What started with navigating international education herself has grown into a mission to make that journey more accessible for others.
